Jan Borm, director of MIARC and UArctic Chair for Arctic Humanities, as well as other MIARC members and colleagues from different countries shared their experience on this year’s UArctic Congress which took place in Bodø, Norway. Watch the videos, one in English and the other in French, made by the communication service of UVSQ on the university’s Youtube channel.
The Arctic Congress 2024 was a unique event that combined the International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS) XI, UArctic Congress 2024, and High North Dialogue 2024. The congress took place from 29 May to 3 June 2024in Bodø, Norway, hosted by Nordland Research Institute and Nord University.
The congress gave the opportunity to share knowledge during high-level plenary sessions, several parallel sessions, network activities, and social and cultural events.
Like Benjamin Fergusson (MIARC) observed, “Just being here in the Arctic is just such a fantastic thing.”
MIARC organized the UArctic Thematic Network ARCH’s session “Writing and visualising the Arctic: travel writing, Indigenous life stories and historical sources, 18th-21st century”, convened by MIARC’s director Jan Borm and Jun.-Full Prof. Joanna Kodzik, with contributions by Bergur D. Hansen, Peter Sköld, Ilona Kivinen, Benjamin Fergusson and Joanna Kodzik.
