Monique Durand a writer and journalist from Quebec/ Canada, memberof the Groupe de recherche sur l'écriture nord-côtière GRÉNOC, Cégep de Sept-Îles will give this lecture as a part of the Jean Malaurie guest lecture series at the Malaurie Institute of Arctic Research Monaco-UVSQ.


MIARC is proud to host the Quebecois writer, journalist and globe-trotter Monique Durand for a lecture about Labrador. Born in Montreal, a member of the editorial board of the review Littoral published by the research group GRÉNOC in Sept-Îles, Quebec, Monique Durand has travelled all over the planet to write novels, accounts and articles mainly published in the Canadian daily Le Devoir. She has received various prizes and awards in France and Quebec.

Her most recent book, Le bout de la route (The End of the Road), published by Somme Toute/ Le Devoir in 2022, is a travelogue about her road trip across Labrador and a journey by train to Schefferville, in the midst of the Labrador peninsula.

The guest lecture will be given at UVSQ’s D’Alembert building, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, 14:00-15:30, 11 boulevard d'Alembert, 78280 Guyancourt (France).
